'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the thrilling closing stages of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game ended with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range shot from 25 yards, and his teammate quickly converted the loose ball before racing off toward the home end to mark the goal, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory capped an extraordinary turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a upcoming fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's volley from about way out going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that far out," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after the team changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Physically they are very good but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and focus just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has quickly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that development for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches games against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

It has been quite the ride for the player from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was closed owing to temperatures of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he says, grinning. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a small coach driven by club employees, the transport team, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would mix with supporters on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
