An individual who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a youth camp in the region has admitted sexual offenses against two children both nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at the location in the summer month.
The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
The accused was kept in jail before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "This year his family member had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor stated materials including infant oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his stepchild alerted the police about his worries.
She stated the man went on to conduct the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the incident.
The legal representative explained the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police again.
She stated the man then played the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
