Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then found many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say early analysis indicate the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for details.
A high-ranking official said the vandalism left him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
